Matt 6:30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
Jesus is saying here, there’s no need to worry because God has promised to take care of us if we’ll just trust Him, He’s our Heavenly Father.
When my kids were growing up, when they needed cash for something, they would just come to me and say, “Dad, could you give me the money for this? Can I have money for that?” Maybe your kids did that too. I’d have to say that in all the times they came and asked me for money when they were growing up, not once did they ever worry about where I was going to get it. It just never crossed their mind. It’s kind of a kid-dad thing‑‑ they ask for money, we give it, and they spend it. And, they didn’t worry about where I was going to get it. It’s the same way with God.
God says, “I’m your heavenly Father, you don’t have to worry where the next pay check is coming from if you trust me.” He can turn off one faucet and turn on another just as easily, so we don’t look to any person, any project, any job, any event, as our source of our supply, we look to God as the source of our supply. He says, “Don’t worry, I will take care of you.” If we really are a child of God, if we’ve stepped across the line and said, “Jesus Christ, I want you in my heart, I want to be in God’s family,” then God has assumed responsibility for our needs. He says, “I’ll take care of you, you don’t have to worry, it’s unnecessary.” He cares for us because we’re valuable to him.
Phil. 4:19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
He says, “I’ll supply all your needs.” It doesn’t say, “I’ll supply all your greed.” Would you agree there’s a difference between need and greed? But, it does say, “I’ll supply all your needs in Christ Jesus.” So, we don’t have to worry.
Worry always indicates that I have a misunderstanding of what God is like.
It always indicates that I don’t really understand what God’s like. And, if I misunderstand what He’s like then I can’t trust Him, and if I can’t trust Him, then I’m going to worry.
So, the issue really is not we’re worried, it’s just who do we think God is? Do we think God will do what He says He’ll do? We always get into trouble when we doubt God’s love. If God can be trusted for my salvation, can’t He be trusted for everything else?
If God saved us, He solved our biggest problem. Any other problem we have is minor by comparison. God will help you with those problems. Worrying has never solved a problem. Instead of worrying, take your problems to the God who cares for you and the God who actually has the power to solve your problems.
