Take Heart This New Year

We’re in the first week of a new year. A new year with new possibilities… and uncertainties.

Maybe for some of us, we really hope that this year is better than last year. I sure do hope that is true for you! But, regardless of whether this year is “better” by our standards or not, there is something certain that you can put your hope in… and that’s God.

“May God, the source of hope, fill you with joy and peace through your faith in him. Then you will overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13 GW).

Before you click away from this blog post, because you think, yeah, yeah, yeah, God is always the Sunday-school answer, I encourage you to allow this truth to fall afresh on you as you set out in this New Year.

It’s the truth that HE IS ENOUGH.

Do you live like he is enough? Most of us struggle living this out, even if we believe it in our minds.

Jesus told us we would experience hard times in this world, I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

I love how he ends that. “You will have trouble, but take heart.”

Take heart.

In other words, the trouble isn’t the end of the story.
2021 isn’t the end of the story.
2022 isn’t the end of the story.
Even death isn’t the end of the story (thank goodness), because JESUS HAS OVERCOME.

So, take heart. Jesus is our reason to hope. Turn to God. He is enough to get you through anything you need.

Now, more good news, our Father in heaven is a GOOD father. He is generous to his children, and every good thing comes from him. I pray that he blesses you greatly this year.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. (Ephesians 3:20)

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

But, if you hit any bumps in the road, as we all do on this journey called life, I encourage you to come back to the truth that God is the source of everything you need. He truly is enough.

Jesus is our hope on the good days and the bad days.

I pray your 2022 has many, many good days.
