Waiting is Hard: 5 Things to Remember

waitingishard

Few things make us more irritable than having to wait. In traffic ...a  waiting room .. a line at Disney World. And yet, waiting is an important part of life & character development. We learn things while we are waiting that we wouldn’t learn any other way.

Every child must learn the difference between; “No” and “Not Yet.” and, because we are God’s children, we have to learn that same lesson. Waiting on God’s timing. Trusting in God’s timing. Asking him what he wants us to do while we wait for his timing. All of these lessons grow us to be more like Christ.

Our inability to wait is the source of so many problems. When we “get ahead of God,” we are asking for trouble. We are asking for debt, because we did not wait for God to provide. We are asking for broken hearts, because we rushed into a decision that led to hurt. We miss out on miracles, because we rushed and missed what God was trying to do for us.

Some of you are  waiting for God to open a door. To answer a prayer. To give direction. To meet a need. To remove a pain. To heal a relationship.

Ecc. 3:11 “…God does everything just right and on time, but people can never completely understand what he is doing."

So, here are 5 things to remember when waiting on God.

1. I REMEMBER THERE’S A NATURAL DELAY BETWEEN PLANTING & HARVESTING!

This delay is called a season.

Ecc. 3:1-5 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven… A time to plant and a time to harvest… a time to scatter and a time to gather…’

Just like with farming, we reap in a different season than we sow. There is a waiting season. Waiting quietly, patiently and expectantly is faith!

2.  REMEMBER THERE’S AN UNSEEN BATTLE GOING ON.

There is  a Spiritual war between good and evil. We’re caught in the middle. When you are going through a season of delay, this is so important to recognize. Satan will try to rush you into something that is not God’s plan for your life. He will ty to discourage you and make you doubt God’s promises while you wait.

Eph. 6:12 “We are not struggling and fighting against human beings but against evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm - the rulers, authorities, and powers of darkness.”

3.  REMEMBER GOD IS PREPARING ME FOR HIS BLESSING

God usually has a bigger, better idea in mind. He needs to get you ready for this bigger blessing; First, he wants to strengthen your faith:

1 Pet. 1:6-7 “There is wonderful joy ahead, even though it is necessary for you to endure many trials for a while. These troubles test your faith, to show that it is strong and pure, just as fire tests and purifies gold—and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold.”

Some of you are going thru the fire right now, Keep going! Waiting is always a test!

4.   REMEMBER I’M IN GOOD COMPANY WHEN WAITING ON GOD

Millions of saints before you have sat in God’s waiting room.

Heb. 11:2 People who lived in the past became famous because of their faith.”

Joseph waited 14 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.

Moses waited 40 years in the desert for his life purpose.

Abraham waited 100 years for a son through Sarah.

Noah waited 120 years before God sent the flood.

Heb, 6:15 screen After waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.”

5.   REMEMBER GOD ALWAYS KEEPS HIS PROMISES!

You can always count on God to come through. So, don’t focus on what YOU CAN’T do, focus on what God CAN do! Promises help you do that

There are about 7,000 promises found in God’s Word. Memorize some of them. Focus on all the ways he has been faithful in the past, knowing that he will come through this time.
