“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” – Psalm 19:1
God has given you a world full of reminders of who he is. The beauty of a sunrise offers a fresh reminder of his mercies each morning. The vastness of the ocean reminds you of his power. The intricate details of a flower reveal his creativity. The changing seasons remind you of his faithfulness.
Creation is more than something to admire; it’s an invitation to know the Creator.
“For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So, they have no excuse for not knowing God” (Romans 1:20 NLT).
But you have to slow down long enough to notice. When you spend all your time rushing from one responsibility to the next, you can miss the beauty and wonder God has placed right in front of you.
So how can you connect with God through nature? Start by taking a walk outside. Put your phone away, slow your pace, and pay attention to the world around you. Notice the colors of the flowers, listen to the birds singing, feel the breeze on your face, and take in the beauty of the sky. Instead of rushing through your day, give yourself a few moments to appreciate what God has made.
As you notice these things, thank God for the beauty of his creation. Thank him for the sunshine, the trees, the changing seasons, and the incredible detail he put into the world. Let these moments remind you of his creativity, power, and goodness. You can even use your time outdoors to pray, reflect on Scripture, or simply sit quietly in his presence.
You don't have to do anything extraordinary to connect with God. Sometimes, you just need to slow down, step outside, and open your eyes to the extraordinary world he has created. Let the world God created remind you of his goodness and draw you closer to him.
God’s goodness is all around you. The more intentionally you look for him in his creation, the more opportunities you’ll find to pause, reflect, and remember the One who made it all.
