Never be embarrassed for standing for the truth and doing what’s right. The Bible says, “It is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name!” (1 Peter 4:16 NLT).
Following Jesus has never guaranteed an easy life. In fact, sometimes living for Christ means facing criticism, rejection, or misunderstanding. But the Bible tells us that when we suffer because we belong to Jesus, it’s not something to be ashamed of—it’s actually a privilege.
Here’s a truth that can set you free when you face opposition: You don’t need other people’s approval to be happy.
Some people spend years trying to win the approval of a certain person—a parent, a boss, a friend, or someone whose opinion carries weight in their life. But if you’ve been chasing someone’s approval for years and still haven’t gotten it, there’s a good chance you never will.
And the good news is—you don’t actually need it.
No matter what you do in life, someone will disapprove. You cannot please everyone. So if you’re going to face criticism either way, it’s far better to face it for doing the right thing rather than the wrong thing.
That’s especially true when it comes to your faith.
If other people’s opinions matter more to you than God’s opinion, you’ll crumble the moment someone criticizes you for following Jesus. But when your focus is on God—when you care most about what he thinks—you’ll find the strength to stand firm.
The Bible says, “Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are” (1 Peter 5:9 NLT).
You’re not alone in this. Around the world, millions of believers are standing strong for their faith despite opposition, criticism, and even persecution.
So don’t be ashamed of your faith.
Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
