“The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”— 2 Chronicles 16:9 (NLT)
A thousand years before you were born, God already knew exactly when and where you would live. You’re not here by accident. And God didn’t place you where you are just to sit, soak, and sour. He invites you into an active, living faith.
When Jesus spoke to people, He used action words: come, follow, go, obey, send, do.
Faith was never meant to be passive.
Jesus said, “Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone” (Mark 16:15 NCV). He didn’t say go only to the places that feel comfortable or share only the parts of Scripture you like. He said, everywhere… to everyone.
So how do you become part of God’s work right where you are?
It’s not about your ability.
It’s about your availability.
God isn’t searching for super-talented, super-confident, or super-spiritual people. He’s looking for willing hearts. The Bible tells us God is actively looking for people He can strengthen—people whose hearts are fully committed to Him.
God doesn’t need superheroes. He’s the hero. He’s looking for surrendered hearts.
So how do we develop a heart committed to Jesus—a heart like His?
There are four ways. Today we’ll look at two.
First: Care About What Jesus Cares About
Jesus cares about people. Scripture says, “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:36 NIV).
God has never made a person He doesn’t love.
He loves the people you disagree with.
He loves the people who frustrate you.
He loves the people you don’t understand.
He even loves the people who didn’t vote the way you voted.
If we want a heart like Jesus, we have to learn to love like Jesus.
Jesus also deeply cares about the church—His body and His bride.
“Christ loved the church and gave his life for it” (Ephesians 5:25 CEV).
Want to know how much Jesus loves the church? Look at the cross. With arms stretched wide, it’s as if He was saying, “I love you this much.” He shed His blood and gave His life for it.
Second: Be Indifferent to What Jesus Is Indifferent To
That might sound strange at first. Should Christians really be indifferent to anything? Yes—because not everything matters equally.
Some things won’t last five minutes.
Some will last five years.
Some might last 50 or even 500 years.
But only a few things will last forever.
Jesus teaches us to invest our lives in what truly matters.
He was indifferent to anything that distracted Him from God’s mission. He didn’t chase comfort, approval, wealth, or status. He wasn’t driven by politics, pressure, or popularity. He trusted God with the details and stayed focused on the purpose.
Jesus put it this way: “But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you” (Matthew 6:33 GW).
When we seek God’s kingdom first, He takes care of the rest.
