Praying God's Promises Over Your Life

May 12, 2023

Prayer is simply talking to God. And, it’s not just a one way street, God can speak to us during prayer, as well.

But, have you ever run out of words when you’re praying? How do you know you're praying "God's Will" for your life?

When you’re not sure what to pray, you can use the promises of God to

help give words to your prayers. There are over 7000 promises in the

Bible to choose from, and as you learn to pray in faith, claiming the

promises of God is a great place to start.

Why should we pray his promises back to him? Doesn’t he already know what he promised?

Yes, but praying back God’s promises to him reminds US of his

promises. When you pray God’s promises you are praying scripture back to

him. And, there is power in God’s Word. You're declaring God's

promises over your circumstances and aligning your heart with his Word.

You are also praying truth. And, when you pray God's promises, you are

guaranteed to be praying God’s will for your life.

Your prayer can look something like this, “God, your word tells me

not to be afraid. And, though my life looks uncertain, I will choose to

trust in you. When I go through hard times, you promise that you are

with me. So, I know I am not alone. You comfort me and you will never

leave me or forsake me. I will choose to trust in you and follow you

every step of the way, even when I cannot see how it will all turn out, I

know you will not fail me. Amen.”

Here’s a list of just a few of God’s promises in the Bible. Try

praying some of them, and watch your faith increase as you see God keep

his promises to you.

  • “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength”(Isaiah 40:29 ESV).
  • “Don’t be afraid, because I am with you. Don’t be intimidated; I
  • am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will support you
  • with my victorious right hand”(Isaiah 41:10 GW).
  • “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still”(Exodus 14:4 NIV).
  • “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”(1 John 1:9 ESV).
  • “It is the Lord who goes before you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you. Do not fear or be dismayed”(Deuteronomy 31:8 AMP).
  • “But my God shall supply your every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”(Philippians 4:19 MEV).
  • “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I
  • fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they
  • comfort me”(Psalm 23:4 NASB).
  • “You willingly forgive, and your love is always there for those who pray to you”(Psalm 86:5 CEV).
