In Part 1, we talked about remembering your value to God and learning to enjoy what you already have. Those are foundational truths—but they have to move from ideas into action.
Because it’s one thing to believe God offers rest… and another thing to actually slow down enough to receive it. The Good Shepherd doesn’t just offer rest—He leads us into it. But that means we have to be willing to follow.
So what does that look like practically, especially in a busy, stressful season?
Here are three more ways to relax in God’s goodness:
3. Limit your work to six days
God didn’t just suggest rest—He commanded it.
“Work six days, but on the seventh day rest and relax.” (Exodus 23:12)
The Sabbath isn’t a burden—it’s a gift. Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people.” (Mark 2:27) In other words, this isn’t for God’s benefit—it’s for yours.
You were not created to run nonstop. If you ignore rest, you don’t break the rule—you break yourself.
So choose a day. Protect it. Plan for it. Step away from work.
Slow down.
Be present.
God’s way isn’t just right—it’s better.
4. Adjust your values
If your schedule is overwhelming, your values might be out of alignment.
We often say relationships matter most—but our calendars tell a different story.
This week, take a moment to realign:
What actually matters most?
What can wait?
What can you let go of?
You don’t have to do everything to have a meaningful week.
5. Exchange your restlessness for God’s peace
Jesus gives a personal invitation: “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out? Come to me… and you will recover your life… Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” (Matthew 11:28–30)
Notice what He doesn’t say. He doesn’t say, “Come to me and I’ll give you more to carry.” He says, “Come to me and I’ll give you rest.” Real rest isn’t found in a break—it’s found in a Person. When you come to Jesus, He replaces your striving with peace… your pressure with grace… your exhaustion with renewal.
So this week:
Remember your value to God.
Enjoy what you already have.
Limit your work.
Adjust your values.
And exchange your restlessness for His peace.
My prayer for you is simple: That you would slow down, breathe deeply, enjoy the people around you—and experience the kind of rest and refreshment that only the Good Shepherd can give.
