Prayer is simply talking to God—and God wants you to talk to Him! But, It’s important to remember why prayer is possible.
Prayer is possible because Jesus Christ has removed the barrier
between us and God—a barrier caused by our sins. What God did for you at
the cross makes prayer possible.
“Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?” (Romans 8:32 NLT)
When Jesus Christ died for you on the cross, he solved your biggest
problem... your separation from God. Now, because of Jesus, there is
nothing you can’t bring to God in prayer. He loved you enough to die for
you, and he loves you enough to answer your prayers.
The Bible says, “Let us then approach the throne of grace with
confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in
our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
You’re not bothering God when you give him your requests; he’s the
one who set up the system of prayer in the first place. That’s why the
New Testament tells you more than 20 times to ask for whatever you need
in prayer. Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you” (NIV).
Sometimes,
instead of asking God for something, you just worry about it. But if
it’s big enough to worry about, it’s big enough to pray about. Worry
won’t solve anything, but prayer will.
