Have you ever felt God leading you to do something that seemed far beyond your ability?

Maybe He’s calling you to step into a new season, take a difficult step of faith, serve in a new way, repair a relationship, lead someone, or simply trust Him when you don’t know what comes next.

Sometimes what God asks us to do feels impossible. And, in our own strength, it may very well be impossible. But, we serve a God who can do anything.

We have to remember this truth: If God has called you to it, he’s going to get you through it.

His power, presence, and enabling grace working through our lives to accomplish what He has called us to do.

The disciples experienced this firsthand. Jesus gave them an enormous assignment: take the gospel to the ends of the earth. On their own, they could never accomplish it. They didn't have enough resources, influence, strength, or ability.

But they didn't have to do it on their own. God would empower them. And He does the same for us.

Here are some things to remember when you feel called beyond your ability.

1. When God says, “Do it,” you can count on His anointing.

God may give you an assignment that looks completely beyond your ability. But if He has called you to it, you can trust Him to provide what you need.

“The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NIV)

Notice what this verse doesn't say. It doesn't say, “The one who calls you expects you to figure it all out.” It says He will do it. Listen… it doesn’t all depend on you. Thank goodness, right? That doesn't mean we sit back and do nothing. It means we move forward in obedience, trusting God to provide the strength, wisdom, courage, and resources we need along the way.

You may not feel ready. You may not feel qualified. You may not have everything figured out. But God doesn't need you to have everything figured out. He needs you to trust Him enough to take the next step.

2. God’s anointing makes difficult things possible.

We all have limits. Our energy runs out. Our wisdom is incomplete. Our resources are finite. Even our best talents and abilities can only take us so far. But God's resources are unlimited.

Paul prayed that believers would be empowered by God's Spirit: “I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources [God] will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.” — Ephesians 3:16 (NLT)

God doesn't just ask you to work harder. He offers you His strength. This is KEY. We can’t do it in our own strength.

That's when you can stop asking, “Do I have enough?” Instead, ask, “Do I trust that God is enough?” Because He is.

3. God makes the impossible possible.

Jesus said: “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”— Luke 18:27 (NIV)

That doesn't mean every situation will turn out exactly the way we want. But it does mean that no situation is beyond God's ability to work in and through.

What looks impossible to you is not impossible to God. That problem in your family? God is able. That difficult assignment? God is able. That opportunity you don't feel qualified for? God is able. That situation you've been praying about for months? God is able.

Your responsibility isn't to manufacture the outcome. Your responsibility is to remain faithful and obedient while trusting God with the results.

Where God guides, God provides. Where God calls, God equips.
